Job Description

Specific Duties:

• Responsible for operating a tractor with trailer inter/intrastate to pick-up and/or deliver merchandise in accordance with commercial driving regulations of State, U.S. Department of Transportation and Interstate Commerce Commission.

• Driver must be skilled at maneuvering in difficult situations, such as narrow passageways and within urban areas. Driver may hook/unhook trailer as necessary. May be required to sleep in "sleeper" tractor or motel overnight. Responsible for inspecting equipment, tractor and trailer, to include such items as tires, brakes, fluid levels and latches before each operation. Driver will also perform preventative maintenance checks and services of truck and trailer and will report any malfunctions to Truck Maintenance Supervisor for correction.

• Responsible for calculating most efficient routes of travel. Driver may request assistance, if necessary, and will make route alterations if appropriate.

• Responsible for maintaining and possessing driver's logs and other records, per state and federal standards, and possession of all appropriate documentation, including registration and vehicle inspection reports.

• Responsible for unloading delivered merchandise at prescribed locations in prescribed manner.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Must have a CDL Class A (Commercial Driver License) with HAZMAT endorsement.

• Three years of previous tractor - trailer driving experience required.

• Good driving record with no more than 2 points currently on license.

• Required to be physically qualified under the U.S. Dept of Transportation (Part 391.)

• Tractor - Trailer urban driving experience preferred.

• Must have the ability to utilize maps, dock plates/leveler, hand carts, hydraulic and manual pallet jacks, and various hand tools.
